High School Students Complete Boat Project

The student-built boats afloat on Searsport Harbor for the first time.
June 8, 2011 -- Seven students from Searsport District High School recently completed construction of two Shellback Dinghies at Penobscot Marine Museum. The project was an innovative collaboration between the school and the museum, in which boatbuilding served as a vehicle for teaching Physical Science.
The boats are now for sale, proceeds from which will help fund the project again in 2012 with a new group of students. For more information, contact Searsport District High School Principal Brian Campbell at 207-548-2313.
