Children and Family Activities

Summer Day Program 2009

Join us for a great summer experience!

Downeaster Days offers fun and learning in a safe, well-supervised environment on three acres of museum grounds near beautiful Penobscot Bay.

Children from 5 to 11 years old experience maritime history through arts and crafts, games, exhibits, music, and field trips. special guests bring diversity and unique activities. We offer outside play; indoor creative play/activity areas; shore, wharf, and park walking trips; and access to all museum resources.

This summer we're up to some fishy business....

PMM recently received this thank you note from a grateful camp scholarship recipient. Donations from community supporters allow us to maintain a scholarship fund. Any donations towards our scholarship program would be greatly appreciated!

Hands-on Learning Experiences

For families and children, the museum offers opportunities to participate in hands-on learning experiences. The Savage Education Center "Peapod" is our drop-in family center where creative play is facilitated by maritime props and art materials. Many of our exhibits have hands-on components, and special family events take place throughout the year.
