Location

Penobscot Marine Museum is in Searsport, Maine, centrally located between Camden, Bangor, and Acadia National Park. Searsport is a quiet, historic town steeped in maritime tradition. Browse the shops and galleries. Spend the day at the museum and enjoy a picnic here or at the town's waterfront park. Stay overnight at a local bed and breakfast or motel. Driving

The Admissions Office and Museum Store are at 40 E. Main St. (US Route 1) in the center of Searsport. Look for our sign and a tall sailboat mast in the front park.

From Rockland and Camden: head north on Rte. 1. We're about 6 miles past the city of Belfast.

From Augusta: take Rte. 3 east/north to Belfast. Get on Rte. 1 north/east and follow directions above.

From Bangor: from I-95, get onto I-395E, then take exit 3A to Rte. 1A South (Main Road). In Stockton Springs, go west/south on Rte. 1 to Searsport.

From Mt. Desert, Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor: Rte. 3 north to Rte. 1 west/south. Go through Ellsworth, Bucksport and Stockton Springs to Searsport.



Parking

Free parking is in the middle of the museum campus, between Church St. and Knox Brothers Ave. On-street parking is also available.



By Sea

Any member who wishes to visit the Museum by sea is invited to use our Searsport Harbor mooring (#55). To make a mooring reservation, contact Searsport Harbormaster Wayne Hamilton on VHF channel 9, 10, 71 or 78, or call 207-548-2722. Please use this phone number only for mooring reservations.
