About the Units

Eleven units introduce the user to maritime Maine's settlement, resources, occupations, vessels, and art. Meet captains and codfish, lobsters and lumber schooners, mates and Mawooshen. Each Unit also includes a set of educators tools, and an extensive list of resources.

The sidebar on the right contains menus that include:

  1. User's Guide listing subheadings for the topic
  2. Learning Results and Activities for Educators
  3. Print and electronic resources

Each unit is illustrated with historic photographs and images of manuscripts, paintings, maps, charts, and objects from the museum's collections. You may also browse or search the collection by category or keywords.
